30 Weeks!

How far along: 30 Weeks
Baby size: 17 inches long, 3.1 lbs (about the size of a butternut squash)
Maternity clothes: My favorite is my little black maternity dress. I wear it almost every Sunday.
Stretch marks: Nope but I lotion morning and night. It is getting pretty itchy.
Sleep: It is not going well. Some days are better than others though...
Gender: A strong little girl!
Best moment this week: Finding out that baby girl is going to be getting another Barrick cousin! Brandon and Megan are expecting a little one in DECEMBER. Seriously best news of this summer probably. (At least in the past couples of unfortunate weeks we have been experiencing here in MD).
Looking forward to: For the next four weeks I will be looking forward to going back to Pittsburgh. It's just been a rough summer and I miss my home. I miss my bed. I am craving getting settled into our new apartment. I am really in the nesting phase but I am not in my nest.
What I miss: Home. I also miss bending over or reaching down. The little bump is making it more difficult but mostly uncomfortable. I feel like I am squishing baby girl too much.
Movement: Yes. She is really active some days and other days is cool just chilling and being calm. It is weird when she has been super active for a few days and then she is super not for a few but it has kind of been a pattern so I don't worry about it too much. It could also be that somedays I really notice her movements and other days I do not.
Food cravings: Donuts, Burgatory, grapes, things I don't have to prepare, things that aren't good for you.
Aversions: I wouldn't say I have aversions but recently I haven't had much of an appetite.
Nursery: I feel like we finally have all of the big furniture items picked out we are just playing the waiting game to get back to Pittsburgh and buy them/ set them up (which will probably end up being Daniels job). I think next weekend we will buy the dresser and then we will get the crib and chair when we go back for good.
Miscellaneous: I am so thankful that I have been blessed with such a smooth pregnancy. With all the things around me that are going horribly wrong it makes me a thousand percent more thankful that this pregnancy has been so smooth and I pray it continues to go that way.

Happy 4th!

This past weekend we decided kind of last minute to head home for the Fourth of July. Daniel had Friday off and a couple of hours on Thursday off and so we thought it would be fun to spend the weekend at home and see what Pittsburgh had to offer on the Fourth. We didn't really have any plans but to see the fireworks. After dinner we drove downtown and spent a good 20-30 minutes trying to find a parking spot. Everything seemed full or was way overpriced and I was not interested in walking a million miles or paying a million dollars. We were heading back home and thinking about taking the bus down when Daniel happened upon a garage that was cheap and seemed like it could be okay. It was perfect. It was right next to the light rail and everywhere we needed to go was in the free zone so we hopped on and headed to the North Shore. When we got there we stopped to watch a little speedboat racing on the river before we headed to Heinz Stadium for some pre-fireowrk fun. There were a whole bunch of food venues set up but we opted for the free ice cream. We walked around to see the field and saw that there was a little set up for throwing footballs and taking pictures behind a steelers uniform. Daniel wanted to throw footballs and I wanted to take pictures so we agreed that if I threw the football he would take a picture. I totally missed but did much better than I thought, I'm mostly glad I didn't tip over while I was in the throwing motion. Daniel hit the target on his second try though so I am glad he was there to represent. Then we took these great pictures.
I had to climb up the back a little ways to get my head in place-again I was glad I didn't come tumbling down, little things like climbing up on the calves of a football mannequin are a little harder these days.
After exploring the area we headed down to the water to see what was going on and figure out where we would sit for the firework show. Lots of boats were driving in and throwing their anchors to watch the show from the water. It was crazy how many boats were in the river by the end of the night.
We ended up by the Mr. Rogers Neighborhood statue and decided we would just stay there to watch the fireworks. I am glad we did, we had a front row view. It was deafening and times and you could really feel the impact of the finale, but it was a great show. We ended up walking back to the car with hoards of people, it wasn't too far and it was good to stretch out after sitting for so long.
It was a great weekend. It was fun to settle into our new place and enjoy the comfort of our own bed. We are mostly moved in and just need to organize everything a little bit. Baby girls room needs some furniture and we are looking for a few things to just make it feel a little bit more like home and keep us organized. We are definitely looking forward to moving back and getting ready for the next adventure. It is nice to miss Pittsburgh. It makes me realize how much I have really enjoyed the city and all the good things that are there for us.

28 and 29 Weeks

How far along: 29 Weeks tomorrow!

Baby size: 16 inches long, 2.5 lbs (about the size of a head of cauliflower)
Weight gain: I will find out tomorrow. Hopefully I am not huge. Some days I look in the mirror and feel huge and other days I don't and I wonder where my baby is? Maybe I am just getting use to my new size.
Maternity clothes: Yes, although today I am wearing a not maternity shirt, so I still pull those out sometimes.
Stretch marks: Nope lots of lotion though.
Sleep: I am really just missing our bed so much. This bed is just not comfortable. Yet I am still sleeping pretty well.
Gender: Baby girl.
Best moment this week: Daniel and I were watching a movie and baby girl was having a party. She kicked so hard and moved so much. Although it was strange she just felt so strong and I loved that!
Looking forward to: We are going home this weekend since Daniel has some time off for the Fourth of July. This wasn't originally part of the plan since there is nothing taking us home, but we really miss being in our apartment with our stuff and it just seemed like it could be a good thing. I am looking forward to settling into our home more!
What I miss: I guess I miss the little things that didn't bother me when I was not pregnant. I feel like I have a whole bunch of little pregnancy symptoms-like the need for Tums after meals, or having leg cramps at night. But I have gotten so use to these things that it is hard to remember what it was like not having to stretch my calves before bed. I think it will be interesting being not pregnant and some of these things going away (hopefully!)
Movement: Yes. Keep on kicking baby girl. You are getting so strong!
Food cravings: Fruit always sounds good to me. Just fresh, cold fruit. Also ice cream. Yum. And Mexican food, but is it really a craving if I craved Mexican food before pregnancy too? I still love it and love good chips and salsa.
Aversions: No way I eat what I want :)
Nursery: We almost bought the crib and then didn't and now I feel like we aren't sure what color we are going to get. I can't wait to be home and to just make some decisions!
Miscellaneous: Seriously sometimes time feels so slow. But then it has already been two weeks since I wrote a pregnancy update and I missed week 28. I think one thing that makes it slow is that lots of my friends are pregnant and are/were due June, July, and August. So when they post stuff they are always 4-10 weeks ahead of me and I am always just catching up. But really only 11-12 weeks left. 3 months. It is going to fly by I am sure. I feel like there is so much to do before baby gets here-like she really will need a place to rest her head and maybe some clothes and stuff like that- so really time is a good thing right now!

Here I am just shy of 29 weeks. I was having a really hard time capturing the bump. I look ten times more pregnant if I hold my phone at different angles so it is hard to get the true nature of the bump perfectly, but for the most part this is what I see.
