Pittsburgh Light Up Night

The weekend before Thanksgiving Pittsburgh had their annual Light Up Night. This event in downtown Pittsburgh welcomed in the Christmas season with lots of Christmas things happening at multiple locations downtown. Daniel and I decided it would be really fun to head down and enjoy all the different events. We made it down and the first thing we did was watch the tree in PPG place get lit. They had the tree in the middle of the ice rink down there and so they had skaters come out and skate around it before we counted down the lighting. It was pretty magical.
We headed over to Market Square after that to check out the christmas lights in that area. They had a whole bunch of booths open and a band playing so we listened to the band while we waited in line to get some free photo booth pictures. After a little bit we headed over to the Macy's down the street for the window display reveal. They had the lady that sings "I Will Survive" there singing a few of her songs as well as some Christmas songs. The displays were very cute and had some fun Pittsburgh themes to them.
We walked back down through Market Place to another Christmas tree lighting. We made it just in time to watch that. We got some Hot Chocolate and walked down to Point State Park. There were a bunch of booths and more performers. They had a lot of local artists and some local dance companies and show choirs. Santa came down to the point and had a little sing along before he lit the tree with fireworks and a fun firework show followed. It was getting nice and cold so we decided to head home after that.
It was a fun way to start the holiday season and really felt like a fun community event.
